So... His hand is broken...

Well after Ben falling on his hand at school and it looking horrible. I had him looked at and the nurse said oh its just a sprain nothing to be concerned about. So she wrapped it and we went home. I noticed he was not using it like normal and he did eat his dinner and just wanted to go to bed, which is not like him at all. Then he was up crying most of Tuesday night so I called the doctors office on Wednesday morning and got him in 20 minutes later to be checked out again, this time by the doctor! Well as soon as she saw his hand and how you couldn't even see his knuckles anymore she immediately thought it was broken... So off we went to St. Alexius for x-rays! As soon as the tech took the first one she said she was sure it was broken. Well they read them right away and I saw them and of course it was broken. We went home and waited for the doctor to call to tell us the next move. Today we saw the orthopedist and he set and casted Ben's hand. Ben was a trooper through it all, he held still for them to do everything and only whimpered a little bit when they set his hand! His only issue was with the rules... No jumping off things, no running, no getting the cast wet, no shoving things down it to itch and no showers only baths! All but one of those he had objections to!

Its been a pretty eventful week, hoping this is the last week like this for a long while! So I will leave you with some pictures of Ben's hand, his x-rays and his cast.

Ben's hand the other day

Both of Ben's hands, you can see the left is quite a bit puffier than the right one :(

His x-ray, the break is all the way on the left on the bone that is under his pinkie just above his wrist. They call this a boxers fracture.

Ben's cast, he was thrilled to get to pick what color he wanted it to be :) He loves stars, so he picked this pattern!

Last few weeks and Halloween :)

It has been quite eventful around the Ward house the last few weeks! Between sick kids and school things for Ben and traveling back to Indiana, our weeks and weekends have been filled!
A couple weeks ago we found out that Alexander has asthma. We only discovered this because he had he flu mist and it gave him a pretty severe asthma attack :( He had to have breathing treatments every 4 hours and be on steroids for 5 days which made him angry baby! Now we know that he will no longer be able to get the mist, he will have to get the flu shot from now on :(
Yesterday Benjamin fell at school before he even went in and he hurt his hand, we thought it could be broken it was so ugly looking. So today we visited the doctor and they said that it is just really bruised and sprained. Thankfully no broken bones!
As of right now everyone in our house is finally healthy! I am hoping this will stay that way for quite a while!

Yesterday the kids went trick or treating with Matt and had a blast! Their first time out into our new neighborhood and everyone thought they were adorable and gave them a ton of candy! I got to stay home and hand out candy to all the cute little costumed kids and the occasional teenager who didn't put much effort into a costume!

I think that's about it for now. So I leave you with some Halloween photos :)

I haven't updated the blog in a bit, so here goes...

A couple of weekends ago we went to the Streamwood village fire department open house. Ben had a great time! Unfortunately the other two were sick and didn't get to enjoy it :(

Here are a couple photos of Ben there :

This better be the only time he is in the back of a police car!

He loved all the buttons inside the car!

Getting handcuffed by the state trooper! This better be the only time he is in handcuffs too!

right after I took this one he slipped the cuffs off and told the trooper that he was too little for them, then the trooper showed him an even bigger pair of cuffs that he told Ben they use for really big people. To which Ben promptly said yeah, for the fat people cause they get in trouble too, lol.

Sitting in the ladder truck, that one was his favorite :)

getting a lesson on how the fire hose works :) He loved this part!

ringing the bell on the front of the truck!

all dressed up in fire gear!

We haven't really done much else fun lately. Almost everyone in the house has been sick at least once and in Alex's case twice :(. Lily had it the worst with strep throat and a seizure from her high temperature :(. Alex got a cold the first time and an ear infection the second. Ben is the lucky one, he didn't get sick either time. i still don't know how he managed to avoid it all!

here is a picture of my sweet Alex sound asleep, trying to feel better.

Within the last week we have had 2 squirrels that have decided they are part of the family. They come to the window and chatter to me for peanuts and will come right up to me and take them out of my had at the back door. They are very cute! They sit on the chair at the table on the patio and watch me cook. They also lay there are innocent looking if there aren't any peanuts outside to be had.
Here is one of them, sitting there enjoying his peanut :)

Nothing much else is new, so I will leave you with cuteness.

Family Pictures :)

Like the last post said, we did family photos last weekend. I got them in the mail today :) Here are a few of my favorites!

I love this one, Ben is such a little ham!!
You can just tell how much lily and carleigh love each other in this one!

Matt can never seem to smile in family photos or any photos really... I think we may have 2 that he smiled in that weren't forced smiles...

Ben's Post

Its Been about a week since I updated this and well there is not much to update on. We did family pictures last weekend and when I get the disc I will most definitely post them for you all to enjoy or laugh at. You know whatever the picture calls for :) So since there is not much to say, I am going to let Ben finish this blog :)

I got my first homework, it was drawing b's. Mrs. Halpin says it was good. here's a picture of it and me

Ben typed the line above the pictures, I only helped by spelling what he didn't know how to, and I put the pictures in since he hasn't quite mastered that yet :)

So... Thought I would join the rest of the world...

Well this is my first and possibly sorry attempt at blogging. I figured with our little family living almost 3 hours away from the rest of the entire family on both sides, that maybe this could be a way for all of you to keep up with us :).
Nothing really that exciting to post on here quite yet so I will leave you all with cuteness. The most recent pictures I have of the kids :)

This was her first time having a toasted marshmallow and it ended in well this :)

This was Ben on mismatch day for school and he dressed himself and those are sponge bob underwear outside his pants :)
Alex just being his adorable self :)
